OUR VISION
There are three core beliefs underlying our mission and vision to provide students the superior education that will lead to college and professional careers.  We believe that:

THE NEED
Public schools in Milwaukee currently struggle to equip all students with the necessary academic skills to build successful, productive futures.  Recent assessment results indicate that 50% of tenth graders are reading at basic or below, 54% are at basic or below in language, 64% are at basic or below in math, 77% are at basic or below in science, and 57% are at basic or below in history.   According to one recent report, so few MPS students graduate in four years that the district cannot confidently calculate graduation rates.   Of those students who do graduate, 32% consider a four-year college part of their post-graduation plans.    The effects of these dire statistics have left 41% of Milwaukee’s children without the education necessary to transcend poverty. Without an education that equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary to access and succeed in college and professional careers, too many Milwaukee children are destined to lead difficult lives—lives that are often severely complicated by poverty, violence, and desperation.

This generation of children faces many obstacles.  Society’s most privileged positions require a college education, financial stability, and leadership opportunities.   Milwaukee Renaissance Academy is intentionally designed to ensure our students access to those positions through a strong academic and social program.
